Life’s a marvelous journey packed with joy, stress, sorrow and everything in between. Sometimes the stress that society heaps on your shoulders slips down to your hips and your tummy. You let go of your slim dreams in your daily struggle to keep up with the Joneses and everyone else’s needs. Maybe you just need a good map and some clear directions to remind you where you were going in the first place! Post these motivational reminders wherever you go each day. Stick ‘em in the bathroom, at work, on the fridge, on the ceiling, in the car, and on your mate’s back when he, she or it isn’t looking. They’ll change your mind, which will change your body, which will change your life. Soon the gross weight of the sole vehicle you have for the whole journey…your body…won’t be gross anymore!

Reminder #1: Feast on fiber…the good kind. This does NOT mean filling your face with doughnuts, breads and pastas. Stock your fridge with vegetables, fruits and whole wheat bread. Steal nuts from the neighbor’s trees. Constipation, be gone!

Reminder #2: Smaller plate, smaller portions. Use a salad plate, 2/3 filled with vegetables, 1/3 with protein. If you use a bowl big enough for a whole cow, you’ll eat the whole cow. The best free weight loss advice is just common sense.

Reminder #3: Water, water and more water! Drink 8 glasses per day, at least. Cold water makes your body burn calories faster. Fact is, sometimes you’re just thirsty and not really hungry.

Reminder #4: Coffee or tea, please. No cream or sugar, thanks. No weight gain without the dairy and sweets, but caffeine dehydrates the body, so back to Reminder #3: Water, water and more water!

Reminder #5:  Choose quality over quantity. You are what you eat. Healthy, fresh foods make you feel healthy and fresh. High-energy foods give you high-energy. Crash diets make you crash.

Reminder #6: Change your mind, change your body. Look into the mirror, tell yourself you’re beautiful and on a splendid journey to your goal. Ditch the baggy black duds. Wear bright clothing, be happy all day, everyday, and let yourself dream.
